Lesson 16: Common Sense
Many books could probably be written on common sense, or rather the lack thereof. Common sense is unfortunately not very common. The worst cases are obviously seen in bureaucratic structures of all kind. The problem is not the structure itself, it is that because people fear for their jobs or reputations, they do nothing to improve the situation.
In the first case, if they have a family and children to nourish, it is understandable, but health needs common sense in order to flourish.
If you choose not to respect common sense, chances are quite big that your health will take a toll.
The Healfi Common Sense Manifesto:
- Common sense tells us that it cannot be healthy to sit in front of a computer day in and day out in the long run without decent breaks.
- Common sense tells us that it does not make sense to take a pill (= 3-dimensional solution) to tackle a health issue like depression (= 4-dimensional problem).
- Common sense tells us that if you would not feel at ease to personally kill animals, then it is inconsistent to eat them.
- Common sense tells us that it does not make sense to only treat the symptoms of a disease while ignoring its causes.
- Common sense tells us that it makes more sense to listen to and/or observe very healthy people than to listen to "experts" and institutions whose business models are based on keeping you sick.
- Common sense tells us that you cannot be totally healthy if you do not like your job.
- Common sense tells us that you cannot heal properly as long as you have not tackled/removed the real underlying cause of your health issue.
- Common sense tells us that you cannot feel well as long as your subconscious is hammering you with issues you need to tackle.
- Common sense tells us that you will feel better if you do not have negative thoughts every time you look yourself in the mirror (or even worse: avoid the mirror).
- Common sense tells us that it cannot be healthy to watch/read an overload of negative news, or to listen to negative people or to often watch psychologically and/or physically violent movies or programs.
- Common sense tells us that you will not feel well if you have unmet needs or are constantly annoyed small things about your relationships (boss, family members, life partner, etc.)
- Common sense tells us that if you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got.
- Common sense tells us that it makes more sense to focus on health than to focus on disease.
- Common sense tells us that if you get uptight about anything, maybe you have an aspect of yourself that you need to work on.
- Common sense tells us that it does not make sense that somebody else than you should be responsible for your health and take the decisions for your health.
- Common sense tells us that you cannot feel perfectly well if you constantly worry about your finances (or anything else in life, by the way!).
- Common sense tells us that you head for problems if you do not treat other people as you would like to be treated yourself.
- Common sense tells us that you cannot feel perfectly well if your current main job or occupation does not have a meaning, if you do not have the feeling that you contribute positively to a better world.
- Common sense tells us that you cannot feel great if you have plenty of clutter in your office or at home (yes, even hidden clutter nags your subconscious!).
- Common sense tells us that organic foods are healthier than processed foods.
- Common sense tells us that locally grown food must be healthier than foods that have been shipped for thousands of miles.
- Common sense tells us that our current levels of consumption and pollution cannot be sustained.

Next time you encounter a situation that obviously goes against common sense, ask the person responsible for this situation if there might not be a better way of dealing with it. Also, try and come up with your own constructive alternative, instead of just complaining.
If you have to deal with a bureaucratic structure, ask to speak to the highest positioned person and make your suggestion. If enough of us come and suggest better solutions, we will together help build a less frustrating world. Thank you for your cooperation!
