Lesson 1: Introduction and Goals of This Course


This is an absolutely unique e-course on the Internet today which has the ambitious aim to teach you how health really works so that you should never have to worry about your health again.

More specifically, we want to teach you:

  • how you find out WHY you have a specific health issue so that you can tackle it accordingly
  • how to use the Healfi approach as a preventive tool with the aim to put sickness in history books.

Our hope is that the knowledge we bring to you will give you so much confidence that you could theoretically cancel your health insurance (or only take minimal coverage if you live in a country where health insurance is still compulsory).

Try and feel how it would feel like tearing your health insurance apart and starting a "new life" with the absolute certainty that you would never need to go to the doctor or the pharmacy again.

Don't worry if this sounds scary right now, at the end of this course, with all the new knowledge, you will most probably see things differently.

You need to realize that learning to stay healthy is like most other skills you learn in life (driving a car, playing piano, golf, etc.): it takes some learning and practising until you really get it. But the rewards are worth the effort.


Please play around at your own pace. You do not need to go through all the lessons in the right order.

The most important thing that you need to understand from this course is that you need to take OWN RESPONSIBILITY for your health.

This means not listening or following blindly what doctors, friends, your partner or even this course tell you. You are the only person who can know what is best for your well-being.


You will certainly have plenty of questions coming up as you go through this course. As you will read at a later stage in the course, one of the things that we want to teach you is to learn how to find your own answers. And you can discuss them with some friends who also do the course.


This course does not include individual advice, but feel free to send in your questions to questions@healfi.com, as we plan to build a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. You can also use the forms at the bottom of each lesson.


This course is very different from all other courses you might have taken, because it will inevitably involve you in something bigger than yourself, you will understand this better later on.

Healfi does not have all the answers but wants to start a positive debate to find big-scale solutions for a healthy society.


There are exercises in the right-hand column. As with anything you learn, the more you practice, the better you get!

Taking responsibility for your health also means taking own responsibility for going through this course until you understand the essence of it. We suggest that you think through and write down how you plan to tackle this material.

Maybe you can start to go through the lessons that seem most interesting to you. Or you like them in order? Maybe a quick glance through all lessons, then study one lesson every week? Or start to look at the 100+ Healfi Cards? Or take the "Measure Your Health" questionnaire?

We recommend that you buy some kind of bound book or booklet that you could entitle "Health Journal" or "Health Diary" or "Understanding Health".

Have it at hand to write down your thoughts, your questions, your goals, or anything that comes through your mind as you go through this e-course.

There is no right or wrong way to use this health journal: you are the artist building your own happy and disease-free life!

One suggestion tough is that you keep one or two dozen pages free at the front or the rear of the journal where you can write down all your specific goals as we will discuss in a later lesson (especially lesson 8 and lesson 19).
